The Mechanical and Environmental Performance of Fiber-Reinforced Polymers in Concrete Structures: Opportunities, Challenges and Future Directions

نویسندگان

چکیده

The construction sector is well known for its critical environmental impact resulting from the consumed amounts of raw materials and tremendous emissions greenhouse gases. Therefore, scientists need to promote study implications using alternative solutions such as fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) throughout their service life. FRPs have gained increasing popularity in last few years due durability, high corrosion resistance, light weight strength. Life cycle assessment considered one most important methods investigate impacts FRP. aim this paper present an overview polymer composites concrete structures with investigation focusing on mechanical properties civil engineering structures. main focus set polymers, use a strengthening technique structural members life method. reported results literature reveal that utilizing FRP instead traditional improves strength stiffness reduces impacts.

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Bond Development Between Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers and Concrete

Carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets can be externally bonded for retrofit of concrete structures, improving flexure and sheer strength in the concrete. The key to CFRP sheets is the bond to the concrete, as bond is the means to transfer stress between the tow sheet and the concrete. Experimentation has been conducted to test a current market fiber-resin system, and to develop a resin ...

Strengthening of Concrete and Masonry Structures with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (frp)

Since the late 1980s, the civil engineering community has become interested in the application of Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP) to the construction industry. These materials are comprised of very strong fibers and a resin matrix. The most popular application of FRPs has been in repair and rehabilitation of structures. In this technique, FRPs are bonded to the exterior surface of the structura...

Axial Compressive Strength of Reinforced Concrete Columns Wrapped with Fiber Reinforced Polymers (FRP)

This paper presents the results of a study on the axial compressive strength of columnsstrengthened with FRP wrap. The experimental part of the study included testing 6 reinforcedconcrete columns in two series. The first series comprised three similar circular reinforced concretecolumns strengthened with FRP wrap. The second series consisted of three similar square columns, two with sharp corner...
